Send your nomination for the Academic of the Year recognition and the award of 5,000 euro no later than 6 November 2023.
Each year, FUURT presents an individual with the Academic of the Year award in recognition of their actions on behalf of the science and research community. Eligible nominees are those who work in the science and research sector and who have, during the current year, advanced the prerequisites for research work and the use of scientific knowledge as part of societal decision-making or brought positive publicity to research and academia.
We invite FUURT members and friends of scientific knowledge to nominate a candidate for Academic of the Year!
The Academic of the Year has
- advanced the possibilities of the scientific community to engage in long-term scientific pursuits through their own actions or activities or
- brought positive publicity to the field of scientific research and matters that are important to FUURT or
- advanced the use of scientific knowledge as part of societal decision-making.
The Academic of the Year may work, for example, at a university, research institute, company, or organisation. The individual may be your colleague or someone whose public work you have followed.
Use the attached form to submit the name of your candidate and the reasons for your choice by 6 November. Also, include contact information for yourself and your nominee. All those who nominate a candidate are eligible to be entered in our drawing for a Lippu.fi gift voucher worth 150 euro.
The Union Board will select the Academic of the Year based on the nominees chosen by a preliminary jury. We will announce the Academic of the Year in early December.
FUURT has named an Academic of the Year each year since 1997. Last year, the honour was bestowed on Tuija Saresma, Docent of Cultural and Gender Studies.
