Joonas Mattsson, Master of Laws, took on the role of Union Lawyer for the Finnish Union of University Researchers and Teachers on 15 September. He will hold this position as a substitute for Union Lawyer Salla Viitanen until October 2023.
His tasks include, among others, counselling members on labour law issues, supporting members and other Union personnel in unemployment and social security matters, and participation in working groups preparing the Union’s advocacy positions.
He is available to provide legal counselling to Union members by phone at +358 (0)207 589 621 on Tuesdays from 1–4 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9 a.m.–12 noon. At other times, Joonas can be reached by email at joonas.mattsson@tieteentekijat.fi.
Joonas has extensive experience working in the administration of the University of Helsinki and University of Vaasa, and he graduated with a Master of Laws degree during the summer. He can provide assistance for members in Finnish as well as in Swedish and English.
