We show our support for the Tampere University support staff in an open event on Thu 25 Nov

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all on Thursday, 25 November, 2021, at 4 PM to an event held in support of Tampere University support staff. We will light candles at the Voionmaa statue (in front of Tampere University city center campus main building; link includes picture and information in Finnish) as a reminder of the necessity of the support services.

With this event we are appealing to the university management that it carefully weigh the decision to maintain the university support services, which are vital to the teaching, research and social interaction work at the university. The planned reduction of 215 person work years targeted at the university support staff endanger all functions of the university related to teaching, research and social interaction.

Speaking in support of a fair and functional university community will be members of the university community professional and student organizations. Performing at the event will be Jouko Mäki-Lohiluoma and a duet from Näty, who will be performing music from the show NoLoVe, which recently had its opening night.

Vegetarian pea-soup will be served at the event. The chief shop stewards will be available to answer questions related to the cooperation negotiations.

You can participate on-site or on social media by sharing the accompanying photos. With the candles we light on Thursday we hope to remind the university management of the light of reason in the upcoming decisions. On social media we will be using the hashtags #ihminenratkaisee #johtoharkitsee (in Finnish) and #humanpotentialunlimited #humanresourceslimited (in English).

You will find the updated program (in Finnish) for the event here: https://intra.tuni.fi/content/event/32233 and the event description in English here: https://intra.tuni.fi/en/content/news/32251
