Jytte wants to challenge its members to do either smaller or larger acts for the climate and/or the environment during October 2022. Challenge also yourself to act for the climate or the environment in any way you find possible!
The idea is for you to do something you would not normally do – that is, to try something new. How about a week of meat-free lunches or vegan meals? Or either cycling to work or using public transport instead of driving your own car? How about mending broken clothes? Or picking up rubbish on five walks? Buying a second-hand item instead of new one, or wearing something already in your wardrobe instead of buying new clothes? Or if your energy contract is up for renewal, could you change from a company using fossil fuels to one that uses renewable energy, such as wind, solar, or water? Perhaps you could go foraging in the local woods and cook some nice vegetarian food?
Think of a climate or environment deed and do it! The challenge starts on 1 October 2022 and lasts a month. You thus have until 31 Oct 2022. The only rule is not to commit acts of ecoterrorism! Acts of harm are not condoned.
Once your climate deed has been completed, you can either:
- post a summary of the act and a photograph (it does not have to include people) on your personal Instagram account. If you tag Jytte (@jytte.ry), your post will be shared on Jytte’s brand new Instagram.
OR
- write a short description, one or two sentences, and email it with a photograph (does not have to include people) to Heidi Kosonen (heidi.s.kosonen (at) jyu.fi) by Sunday 6 Nov 2022. Use “Jytte’s climate action” as the subject of the email and tell us if you want it published anonymously. Please note that the picture and the story will be published on Jytte’s Instagram account. By participating, you agree for the content to be published.
Three lucky participants will be awarded with a 100-euro gift card. The winners can choose between a gift card to massage and to Lippu.fi. Please note that you can participate on your own, with a friend, or as a team, but only members of Jytte can participate in the raffle.
All the participating actions are assessed by Jytte’s board. An anonymised summary of the actions will get published on Jytte’s blog later.
