The greetings of the board offer views on the changes meeting FUUR and Jytte this spring.
As also the cover of the soon published spring bulletin will show, change is in the air for FUURT and Jytte. FUURT announced the adoption of a new visual appearance in the autumn of 2019 and it will culminate in a new website that will be launched this spring. Jytte also updated its logo and a new FUURT-hosted website is in the pipeline. The launch is expected to take place in April or May 2020.
Among the things affected by the change of servers are our bulletins. Messages will be delivered but their look may change and the initial testing phase may reveal some glitches. We ask for your patience and please remember that if you encounter any issues, do not hesitate to contact the Communications Secretary Heidi Kosonen (contact details can be found here). While building the website, we are also reconsidering the way our biannual electronic bulletin is going to be delivered. As was announced last autumn, the paper bulletin is phased out for environmental reasons and only sent this spring to those members whose email address has not been added to the membership register. Please make sure your details are up to date by accessing FUURT’s e-service!
In addition to getting a new logo and a new website, Jytte also decided to change its name. Instead of Association of Researchers and Teachers of University of Jyväskylä, we are now called Association of Researchers and Teachers of Jyväskylä. We believe that the name better reflects the nature of the contemporary situation where sites and affiliations sometimes change quite rapidly, and the link to a particular area may turn out to be more important than affiliation. Jytte welcomes all researchers and teachers from outside the University of Jyväskylä to join its ranks!
Finally, the COVID-19 pandemic has also brought some changes to Jytte’s plans. We are hoping to organise the spring meeting as planned via electronic means, if possible. FUURT spring seminar has been cancelled and will be organized as an electronic meeting. Jyväskylän kaupunginteatteri has cancelled all performances until the end of May. This includes Phantom for which we gave out tickets to our members earlier this year. Ticket holders will be informed of possible replacements later. We also want to recommend that all our members follow the latest official instructions on how to protect yourself from the virus and be considerate of others: wash your hands and stay home if you fall ill.
